The single bedroom apartment had such small living quarters that the combined kitchen, dining and living areas became the one room where absolutely every task or activity occurred. The client seeked a space dedicated just for work and separate from the living areas. With no where else to include a 'study' area, she cleverly suggested creating a study nook within the hallway wall cavity.  Within the 350mm depth [the depth of a normal wall shelf] we built a custom wall hung overhead unit for storage and a built in desk surface with a pull out tray.  Hay's 'Pinorama' was the perfect wall item which fit perfectly into the cavity. It combined a tackable surface, mirror and provided clever shelf and cup storage for loose office accessories. Since there was little room to move depth wise, we maximized storage by suspending an array of storage solutions to the back of the door. To the base, was a custom lockable storage unit on casters. When the door closed, the unit slid perfectly underneath the desk.
