CUSTOM ELEMENTS | A custom ply bench with seat pads was designed to act as part-ledge, part- stage for the kids to play. Raising the bench allowed for  storage opportunities below | Image by Vanessa Hall

CUSTOM ELEMENTS | We fashioned a ply shelf on site from left over  materials  from the stage joinery. It was a simple and effective addition to the room

Brief         To provide an engaging play area for three children under the age of four

Budget     5K

The concept stemmed from bringing the natural world indoors to encourage a less sedentary play space for the kids.  Another integral design element was the idea of performance, so creating a space which encouraged kids imaginations to run free was key. A simple black and white wallpaper, illustrating long lean tree trunks was installed to further enhance the tall ceilings. To assimilate a green lush canopy, a custom leafy print was loosely hung and fixed to the ceiling. A green grouping of real succulents were suspended at the end of the drapery.  Custom joinery allowed for integrated storage, day bed and finally a mini stage [once the seat pads were removed] Left over ply was fashioned on site into wall shelves for additional display and storage.
